Seismic brace with two diagonal slotted struts installed on a rectangular galvanised air duct

Application

HVAC and Ventilation Systems

Suspended ductwork is braced against horizontal seismic movement, and supported on channel frames that keep the duct elevations coordinated with the other services.

Ventilation and air-conditioning ducts are light in section but large in area, so they pick up significant horizontal load. Braces are normally arranged as a V on the duct face, with the struts anchored to the slab above and the duct clamp spreading the load across the duct wall.

QINYU supplies the whole assembly: slotted channel struts, duct clamps, hinge connectors and anchors, together with the trapeze frames that carry the duct run itself.

Technical basis

  • GB 50981-2014 requires seismic bracing for rectangular ducts with a cross-sectional area of 0.38 m² or more.
  • The same code requires bracing for circular ducts of 0.7 m diameter or more.
  • Duct installations are commonly checked against GB 50243-2016 for construction quality acceptance.

Standards are quoted as the design reference used in our technical documentation.
